GBS Is Committed to Juvenile Diabetes Research
November 15, 2007Over the past five years, GBS has participated in the local Juvenile Diabetes Research (JDRF) fundraiser. During each year, GBS has conducted a number of special events to raise money for this worthwhile cause. One of the activities held this year in support of JDRF was our 1st Annual GBS JDRF Golf Outing held at Edgewater Golf Course in Minerva, Ohio, on September 29, 2007. Teams of four participated in a scramble-style tournament. A total of 82 golfers took part in the event, which raised a total of $9,652. In addition to the golf outing, 72 walkers were involved in the GBS Walk to Cure Diabetes on September 8, 2007, at the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. GBS was a silver sponsor of the walk.
GBS raised a total of $14,809 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation this year. Over the past five years, GBS has demonstrated their commitment to JDRF by raising a total of $64,809 in support of JDRF.
JDRF was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with type 1 (juvenile) diabetes - a disease that strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has awarded more than $1 billion to diabetes research, including more than $122 million in FY2006. JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
