2007 Ohio State Challenger Tournament

October 12, 2007

The 2007 Ohio State Challenger Tournament was hosted this year by our own Canton Challengers. Games were played at the Little League Ballfield Complex in North Canton, Ohio, across from Walsh University. Challenger Baseball is a division of Little League for children with physical or mental conditions that prevent safe participation in other baseball programs. GBS has been a proud sponsor of this event for the past eight years.

On June 30 through July 1, 2007, over 560 players, coaches, and volunteers traveled to North Canton, Ohio, from various locations across the state such as Avon, Barberton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Maumee, and Toledo, to participate in the 2007 Ohio State Challenger Tournament. The age range of the players was six through high school age. All competitors, both boys and girls, have some type of disability such as Downs Syndrome, Spina Bifida, and ADD/ADHD. The Canton Challengers have been in existence for 16 years and now consist of eight teams and 160 players.

The host league provided each player with a customary tournament T-shirt, medallion, trophy, gifts, and a free lunch. All teams played two games on Saturday, June 30, and one game on Sunday, July 1, 2007. The teams wore traditional Little League uniforms and played on standard Little League fields.

GBS is honored to have the opportunity to sponsor this event. We are proud of each participant and would like to thank all of the volunteers that helped make this event such a great success.
